The Holly Walther Team: Feel Good Friday – Stay Connected…For Real

Holly: Hey guys, happy Friday. It’s Holly and my stand-in little miss Daisy. We are here this week with a feel good Friday. Also, gentle reminder. Mother’s day is Sunday. If you haven’t purchased something or made something for that special someone in your life, that is your final reminder.

Now let’s talk. Feel good Friday. This week, let’s talk about progress versus perfection. I know in the world we live in, we have so much accessibility to social media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, you name it. We are all dialed in and we are always connected. But what is that doing to us on the inside? If you’re like me, most of us are comparing ourselves to people that are friends and family on social media. We think they have these perfect phenomenal lives because let’s get real. That’s all we’re seeing.

You know, just this last week I had dinner with a dear friend of mine. I hadn’t seen her in years. I hadn’t been keeping up with her on social media. I thought her life was perfect and flawless just as she thought mine was. And what did we find out in those two hours of reconnecting and talking? That we were both so wrong. So I challenge you to reach out to the people that mean something to you. Reconnect with them. Talk to them.

Don’t be so dialed up and connected via social media. Because what we’re not realizing is we think our friends and family have these perfect glorious lives with these great pictures. You know, half of them are using the Snapchat filters. Not me, guys. This is the original because I don’t even know how to use them. But we’re making assumptions. We’re thinking people have these perfect lives. And then when you reconnect and talk to them, you realize that they’ve been going through so much silently, and you’ve been suffering alone.

So there’s your feel good Friday. Not sure it makes you feel good. But I hope you will find if you reach out to one to three people that you haven’t spoken with in a long time, you’ve just been following them on social media, you can find some common ground and share some love with them. You’ll get that love in return and you’ll have an amazing weekend. So there is your feel good Friday. See you next week.
